Well as we come to the end of my second full year at Driscoll school it is time to reflect.
This marks my first graduating class of second graders that I have known since kindergarten. They are all wonderful in their own ways and I will miss them all.
This year also marks the end of an era at Driscoll. Chris Wetzel is retiring. For those of you who don’t know, she has been the art teacher at Driscoll for some 21 years and was the inspiration behind “If Picasso Were a Fish”. It was my experiences in her classroom with my students that sparked the questions “What if Picasso were a fish?”. She has taught kindegarten through second grade the works of Picasso, Mondrian, Monet, Chegal, Rousseau, Pollack and more. She has taught them weaving, pottery, decoupage, and more than that she has allowed them to create. She showed me that kids get more than we give them credit for.
To say that she will be missed is an understatement.
